While most prospects these days announce what college they'll be attending via Twitter, Terrell Burgess of San Marcos High School in California went a step above Thursday night, going on live television to declare his decision.

Burgess, an athlete who can play on both sides of the ball, chose the University of Utah over Cal, Arizona and San Diego State.

Scout.com rates him as a three-star prospect.

"I just felt like that was the best decision for me," Burgess said on KUSI in San Diego after announcing his choice.

Although Burgess' primary announcement was on television, he did also post a message on Twitter with the news.

Standing 6 feet tall and weighing 180 pounds, Burgess said on the live show that the plan for now will likely be to play at cornerback, with the possibility of seeing time at wide receiver down the road.

Utah's crop of cornerbacks for the 2016 class has been quite fluid over the past few days. On Tuesday, Nygel King of Texas declared his commitment to Utah.

Then on Thursday morning, longtime commit Ohaji Hawkins of Florida decommitted, telling the Deseret News that Ute coaches informed him he'd need to either grayshirt or look elsewhere, and he chose the latter option.

With the subtraction of Hawkins and addition of Burgess, Utah now has 22 players committed for the 2016 class with National Signing Day set for next Wednesday, Feb. 3.

Burgess did not immediately return a message seeking additional comment.
