LAYTON — The new Layton Utah FamilySearch Center, at 915 West Gordon Ave., will host an open house this weekend.

The Layton FamilySearch Center will offer touch-screen monitors through which guests can discover stories and photos of their ancestors, according to a news release. The new 14,000-square-foot facility includes a family room and new children's areas.

The Layton FamilySearch Center includes casual seating, collaborative areas and interactive learning stations for patrons. Visitors will be able to digitally preserve family photos, scrapbooks and VHS tapes. It is recommended that guests create a free FamilySearch account at familysearch.org and begin to build their family tree.

The Layton FamilySearch Center will host a public open house Thursday, Nov. 3, 1-9 p.m., and Friday and Saturday, Nov. 4-5, 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. The center will officially open to the public Tuesday, Nov. 8. Normal hours of operation will be Monday and Friday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.; Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday, 9 a.m. to 9 p.m., and Saturday, 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.
