SALT LAKE CITY — A man who already has a case pending of enticing a minor over the internet has now been charged with another case of enticing a minor.
Dusty Rae Serbeck, 19, of South Jordan, was charged Thursday with six counts of enticing a minor, five second-degree felonies and one third-degree felony; and one count of dealing in harmful materials to a minor, a third-degree felony.
Serbeck is the son of David Serbeck, who was paralyzed in a high-profile shooting in 2009 while doing a neighborhood watch patrol in Bluffdale. After the shooting, David Serbeck was found guilty of unlawful sexual activity with a 17-year-old girl, a third-degree felony, and in 2012 was sentenced to three terms of zero to five years in prison.
He was released from prison and placed on parole June 14.
Dusty Serbeck is accused of posting an ad on Craigslist in April and then using the instant messaging app Kik to engage in a conversation with someone he believed was a 13-year-old girl. That "girl" was actually an undercover officer with the Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force, according to charging documents.
Serbeck sent the undercover officer texts requesting to have sex as well as nude and lewd photos of himself, and asked for the girl to do the same, the charges state.
"He asked me two more times if I would have sex with him. When I answered ambiguously in the affirmative, he wrote that he wasn’t looking for a relationship — he was just looking for sex," according to charging documents.
The charges come a little more than a month after Serbeck was charged in Provo's 4th District Court with enticing a minor, a second-degree felony; 10 counts of dealing in harmful materials to a minor, a third-degree felony; and four counts of sexual exploitation of a minor, a second-degree felony.
In May, an undercover Utah County sheriff's deputy posing as a 13-year-old girl began chatting with Serbeck, who told her he wanted her to engage in sex with himself and his 16-year-old girlfriend, the charges state.
Serbeck sent the undercover officer pornographic pictures of both himself alone and with his 16-year-old girlfriend, according to the charging documents.
A preliminary hearing for the Utah County case is scheduled for Wednesday.
