BYU sophomore big man Eric Mika is off to an exceptional start this season, and on Monday he was recognized for his efforts by being named the West Coast Conference Player of the Week.

In games against Princeton, Coppin State and Coastal Carolina last week, the former Lone Peak High School standout averaged 21 points, 11.3 rebounds and 2.7 blocks per game as the Cougars won all three contests. Against the Tigers, he posted career highs of 26 points and 18 rebounds.

The 6-foot-10, 230 pound Mika is coming off an LDS mission to Italy. During his freshman year in Provo, he averaged 11.8 points, 6.4 rebounds, 1.0 assists and 0.7 blocks per game en route to being named to the WCC All-Freshman Team.
