SALT LAKE CITY — The Tooth Fairy takes center stage in the musical "Tina, the Tooth Fairy," which will be presented Feb. 13 at 2 and 7 p.m. at the Hayes Christensen Theatre at the Marriott Center for Dance on the University of Utah campus.
The story shares how Tina, who is played by 12-year-old Lauren Crockett, wants to be a tooth fairy more than any other thing, but her parents think she’s too small. From Tina’s point of view, life isn’t fair even for fairies.
Tina’s parents, much like parents today, have to deal with issues of evil influences that surround their children and the need to teach the value of work, responsibility, commitments and overcoming obstacles.
The production was adapted by Linda Metcalf from Rosemary Evans’ books “Teeny Tiny Tina, the Teeny Tiny Tooth Fairy” and “Teeny Tiny Tina and her Teeny Tiny Pet,” both of which received Mom's Choice Awards and first place in the Royal Dragonfly Book Awards for children’s books for ages 6 and older.
The musical is directed by Roz Korany, who is also the choreographer, and Margaret Crowell is the Grand Tooth Fairy.
Tickets cost $18 to $30 and are available through tinathetoothfairy.brownpapertickets.com or by calling 800-838-3006.
