Team USA swimmer Katie Ledecky earned four gold medals and one silver medal at the Rio Olympics this month. To add to her list of achievements, she threw the first pitch at the Washington Nationals Major League Baseball game yesterday.
Bryce Harper, the LDS right fielder for the Washington Nationals, was crowned as Ledecky’s “most valuable medal-holder,” according to a post on Ledecky’s Instagram account.
In a video uploaded by ABC News, the reporter commented that Harper looked like a clothes hanger as he wore Ledecky’s gold medals on his arms.
“Was a pleasure holding something so valuable and important to this great country. 2020 Olympics here I come, I need to get one of my own so I don’t have to just hold Katie’s,” reads a post from Harper’s Instagram account.
In a Deseret News article, Harper said that he feels that he can “be a walking Book of Mormon and help people on the baseball field and off it.” His most recent social media post features a picture of the San Diego temple.
Harper’s Instagram profile reads, “Baseball. Food. Life. Be ye perfect. LDS.org.”
