Editor's note: In anticipation of the 121st college football season in Utah, DeseretNews.com writer Jay Yeomans is ranking the 50 greatest Division I college football players of all time from the state of Utah. We're counting down the 50 days until Sept. 1 when Southern Utah at Utah and Weber State at Utah State kick off at 6 p.m. Rankings are based on what the player did during his college career.
28. Edward Pine, Utah, center (1959-61)
Pine was one of the best players the Utes had under coach Ray Nagel. He was a dominating player who earned First-Team All-Skyline conference honors in his last two seasons on the hill.
One of his most productive seasons came in 1961 as the Utes started the season out with five wins in the first six games before ending the year at 6-4. That season, he was named a first-team all-conference center and a First-Team Williamson All-American.
