WASHINGTON — Rep. John Curtis, R-Utah, has appointed Katie Thompson press secretary of his office in Washington, D.C. Most recently, Thompson was the chief brand officer of the film advocacy startup Causeumentary.

“Katie’s unique experience and startup background is a great addition to the talented team we are assembling in Utah and in Washington to serve the people of Utah's 3rd Congressional District,” Curtis said in a statement.

Thompson has served many years as a communications strategist for several candidates and political organizations including Sen. Lindsey Graham, R-S.C., The National Republican Senatorial Committee and the American Conservative Union. She also served two years as the national secretary of the College Republican National Committee.

Thompson, who graduated from the University of South Carolina with a bachelor’s in public relations and political science, is one of the first WeWork Creator Award winners for Causeumentary’s work.
