SALT LAKE CITY — Susan Goodfellow, an emeritus professor of flute at the University of Utah, was named a foundation fellow by the Music Teachers National Association during the group’s recent conference in Baltimore.

The program recognizes individuals who have made outstanding contributions to music teaching and bestowed when a peer or group of peers donates $1,000 to the foundation fund in an individual’s name.

Goodfellow, who also taught at BYU, holds degrees from Julliard and the University of Chicago. She has performed as a soloist with the Carmel Bach Festival and with the New York City Symphony and Chicago Chamber Orchestra.

Goodfellow also worked in music research for Encyclopaedia Britannica and was assistant editor of “The Britannia Book of Music.” Following retirement, she served as a missionary for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in family and church history.
