When Kyle Tomlinson first auditioned for "Britain's Got Talent" in 2014, judge David Walliams told him "quite harshly" to get a vocal coach.
Three years later, Tomlinson returned to the "Britain's Got Talent" stage to show off his rendition of Leonard Cohen's "Hallelujah."
Both the audience and the judges gave Tomlinson a standing ovation for his performance.
"This just shows you, Kyle, when someone grinds you down and says, 'You're not good enough,' you come back," said judge Simon Cowell with a glance at Walliams, "and you come back and look them in the eye and tell them, 'I am good enough.'"
Walliams expressed high praise for Tomlinson's performance, pressing the golden buzzer to send him straight through to the semifinals.
"Well done, Kyle," Walliams said. "It was a really, really moving performance and I'm really glad you came back and proved me wrong."
Tomlinson advanced to the final round of "Britain's Got Talent," which will take place on June 4.
