SANDY — Real Monarchs forward Chandler Hoffman scored two goals in six minutes of play Wednesday night, bringing his season total to 10, in a 3-1 victory over OKC Energy FC.
After subbing on in the second half, Hoffman's two goals gave him the Real Monarchs single-season scoring record, held by former Monarch Max Rauhofer, who tallied nine goals in 2015. Hoffman will have more chances to extend his lead, with 16 games still to play in the regular season.
His two goals came from a one-timer served by defender Kyle Curinga in the 70th minute, and an easily-converted penalty kick in the 76th.
Hoffman's 10 goals rank third in the USL, behind Charleston's Romario Williams (14) and Reno's Dane Kelly (13). All three are more than on pace to beat Sean Okoli's all-time season-high of 16 in his 2016 season with Cincinnati.
The win keeps Real Monarchs undefeated at home on the season with an 8-0-0 record.
