SANDY — Real Salt Lake announced defender Aaron Maund was traded Wednesday.

Maund heads to Vancouver Whitecaps F.C. in exchange for Vancouver’s third-round pick in the 2018 MLS Super Draft.

"Aaron has been a warrior for Real Salt Lake for the last five seasons and we thank him for his service to the club,” RSL general manager Craig Waibel said. “We are proud of him for the work he put in to develop with RSL and we wish him the best of luck in his future.”

Maund, 26, joined the team in 2013 in a trade from Toronto FC. In his five seasons with RSL, Maund played 64 matches, starting in 61.

Vancouver and RSL play at Vancouver on Sept. 9.

Real Monarchs sign two players

""Diego is a dynamic attacking player with a great résumé," Real Monarchs general manager Elliot Fall said. "He fits the profile of the type of player we believe can improve our team and we think that we have the type of environment that will allow him to thrive."

Mare, a 22-year-old from Argentina, played for three Mexican professional clubs before signing with Real Monarchs.

"He is a talented attacking player who gives us something that we don't presently have on the roster," Fall said.

The Monarchs, with a 15-2-3 record, are at the top of the USL standings.
