PROVO — BYU and Arkansas announced Thursday a two-game football series between the two schools in 2022 and 2023.

The Cougars and Razorbacks have never played before in football.

BYU and Arkansas will square off at LaVell Edwards Stadium in Provo on Oct. 15, 2022, with the second game scheduled for Sept. 23, 2023, at Donald W. Reynolds Razorback Stadium in Fayetteville, Arkansas.

“I’ve been on the beautiful campus at the University of Arkansas and seen their state-of-the-art athletic facilities,” BYU athletic director Tom Holmoe said. “It will be a road trip BYU fans will not want to miss. I look forward to the Razorbacks and Cougars battling for the first time when we host Arkansas in Provo in 2022.”

Arkansas will be the third Southeastern Conference team to come to Provo. Mississippi State played at LaVell Edwards Stadium in 2000 and 2016. Missouri is scheduled to play at BYU in 2020. Tennessee, another SEC opponent, is scheduled to visit Provo in 2023.

BYU's other scheduled opponents in 2022 include Utah, Baylor, Oregon, Wyoming, Utah State, Boise State, East Carolina and Stanford.

In 2023, the Cougars are scheduled to face Tennessee, Virginia, Houston, Boise State, UNLV, USC and Stanford.
