SALT LAKE CITY — John Boyega, who plays Finn in the sequel “Star Wars” trilogy, just shared an ominous photo from the set.

The photo, which he posted on Instagram, shows Boyega’s hands covered in dirt, dust and a spot of blood.

Boyega said in the photo’s caption that he wrapped up an exhaustive day of filming, hinting at a visually powerful scene that will appear in the upcoming “Episode IX” film, which releases later this year.

Here’s what he wrote:

  • “Great working day on set!! The whole team pushed themselves today to achieve something visually crazy! I’ve had many moments of shock on set but not like today and I can’t wait until you know why.”

Teasers: Boyega teased “Episode IX” not too long ago. He said on a conference call at Awesome Con that the film will include an “all-out war” between the heroic Resistance and the villainous First Order, Screen Rant reported.

  • “Next for me filming wise is 'Star Wars: Episode IX' in July, and they’ve officially given us a note to start training soon. I’m going to take a holiday before that, because I think 'Episode IX' you know, regardless of where the story goes, and I haven’t read it by the way, is going to be all out war so I know that I’m going to have to do all I can and train for that.”

Other details: We really don’t know much about “Episode IX.” I wrote about a leaked image for an Empire magazine story about 2019 films. In that issue, Boyega revealed “Episode IX” would take place roughly one year after the events of “Star Wars: The Last Jedi.”
