SALT LAKE CITY — Thanks to University of Utah football fans, subjects like “impeachment,” “quid pro quo” and “farting politician” aren’t the only things trending in the U.S. this week.

Tyler Huntley has been, too.

More specifically, #HuntleyForHeisman has been trending on social media because of viral marketing for the Utes’ star quarterback.

With Huntley’s name continuing to be more prominent in the national discussion, the Utah football program poured some more fuel on the fire by creating a website and releasing a video mixtape of some of the talented playmaker’s season highlights.

Huntley’s website shows a collection of his eye-popping stats (75% completion rate, 2,397 yards, 190.1 passer rating, 18 TDs to just one interception), compliments he’s received (“Other Pac-12 QBs get much more attention but this guy deserves more pub,” Bruce Feldman wrote) and awards he’s in the running for, including the Davey O’Brien Award (national quarterback, semifinalist), Johnny Unitas Golden Arm Award (top senior QB, finalist) and the Manning Award (outstanding QB, watchlist).

Ute fans, thrilled with Utah’s No. 7 ranking and prime position for a Rose Bowl or College Football Playoff invitation, have now humorously started adding #HuntleyForHeisman in the most random tweets.

Though Huntley is considered a long shot for college’s most prestigious award, the hashtagging had #HuntleyForHeisman trending for part of Wednesday — and not just in Utah. #HuntleyForHeisman was among the trending items in the entire U.S.

Rick Pitino tried to get the New York Knicks to draft Donovan Mitchell

Speaking of Pitino, he’s now coaching Jimmer in Greece

• Speaking of Fredette, Utah could use fans to “Jimmer” the voting for #HuntleyForHeisman at the Heisman House. The Ute QB is only a write-in Heisman candidate for the time being.

Donovan Mitchell, you have an NFL star’s complete attention.
