SALT LAKE CITY — Utah’s march up the polls continued Sunday, thanks to a come-from-behind 33-28 win at Washington.

The Utes (8-1, 5-1 Pac-12) moved up one spot in the Associated Press top 25 to No. 8, with 1,090 points. They also jumped one spot in the Coaches poll to No. 9, with 1,111 points, and control their own destiny in capturing the Pac-12 South title with the win over the Huskies, combined with USC’s loss to Oregon.

The Ducks (8-1, 6-0) stayed the Pac-12’s top-ranked team, maintaining their No. 7 spot in the AP poll and moving up one spot to No. 7 in the Coaches poll. Utah and Oregon are the league’s only two teams in the rankings.

Utah’s prospects to sneak into the four-team playoff — as well as Oregon’s — will become a little more clear when the first College Football Playoff rankings of the 2019 season are unveiled Tuesday.

It was a quiet weekend for the polls, with only two top 25 matchups highlighting the schedule — Georgia topped Florida in a game pitting top 10 teams, while Memphis handed SMU its first loss. The Bulldogs’ win over the Gators helped Utah move up one spot.
