SALT LAKE CITY — When he’s done saving the universe in “Avengers: Endgame,” Jeremy Renner’s Hawkeye will star in and pass the torch in a new Hawkeye TV series, according to reports.

What’s happening: In an exclusive story published Wednesday, Variety reported that Disney’s upcoming Disney Plus streaming service is developing a Hawkeye TV series based on the Marvel star with Renner returning to the role.

  • Variety reported that it’s set to be an adventure series where Clint Barton (Hawkeye) will hand the reins over to Kate Bishop.
  • In Marvel comics, Barton dies and is later brought back to life. In his absence, a young archer named Bishop assumes the name Hawkeye, and Barton, wanting to stay hidden from the world for a while longer, borrows the code name Ronin instead.
  • Bishop is part of a group known as the Young Avengers, according to Variety.

The show’s existence has not been confirmed or commented on by Marvel, Disney or Renner’s reps, according to Variety.

Other Disney Plus Marvel projects

Disney Plus is currently creating a series focusing on MCU characters such as Falcon and Winter Soldier, Loki, Vision and the Scarlet Witch, according to Variety.

The series are expected to be six to eight episodes long and produced by Marvel Studios and Kevin Feige.

Hawkeye will return to the big screen April 26 in “Avengers: Endgame.”
