PROVO — The BYU basketball program is adding another transfer to the roster.
Coach Mark Pope announced Wednesday that guard Alex Barcello is transferring from Arizona. The 6-foot-2 native of Chandler, Arizona, will be sidelined for the upcoming 2019-20 season per NCAA transfer rules. He will have two years of eligibility remaining.

As a high school senior, he averaged 24.2 points, 5.8 rebounds and three assists while shooting 54.8% from the field and 39.5% from 3-point territory and 89.3% from the free-throw line. Barcello ended up scoring 2,254 points in his prep career.
In two seasons at Arizona, he played in 51 games, averaging 2.9 points to go along with 35 assists, 48 rebounds and 13 steals. Barcello scored a career-high 16 points against Georgia Southern. He also scored 12 points at Utah and 14 against California.
