“Glee” actress Naya Rivera went missing Wednesday afternoon on a lake in the Los Padres National Forest in California, and authorities plan to continue the search Thursday, CBS Los Angeles reports.
What happened:
- Rivera reportedly rented a boat around 1 p.m. for herself and her son, who is 4 years old, according to The Los Angeles Times.
- The mother and son rode the boat onto Lake Piru.
- A boater reportedly found the child sleeping on the boat by himself. The boater called officials, who began an immediate search for Rivera.
- Helicopters, drones and dive teams were used in the search for the former “Glee” star.
- The boy told authorities that he and his mother went swimming but she never returned to the boat, according to CBS Los Angeles. It’s unclear how the child returned to the boat.
- Capt. Eric Buschow said: “There’s a lot of challenges in a reservoir this size, at times with visibility. I don’t have details yet as to the depth of the area where the boat was found or what conditions they’re encountering out there.”
Rivera tweeted a picture of her son Tuesday, saying “just the two of us” in the caption.
Correction: This article previously identified Lake Piru as Lake Puro.
