High school football: RPI rankings Week 8 update, Desert Hills, Grantsville overtake top spots in respective classifications

Here’s a class-by-class look at the updated RPI rankings for Utah high school football after a big Week 8 of action.

The top spots in four of the six places remained the same, but there were changes at the top in 4A and 3A. Desert Hills is the new No. 1 in 4A, as it overtook undefeated Ridgeline for the top spot because of a better opponents’ winning percentage.

Grantsville is the new No. 1 in 3A, as it vaulted up one spot after beating previous No. 1 Morgan.

Corner Canyon (6A), Springville (5A), South Summit (2A) and Duchesne (1A) held onto their top spots with wins on Friday.

The biggest jump in any classification belonged to Brighton in 5A as it vaulted from No. 18 to No. 12 after beating Park City 27-24. Skyline and Bonneville both jumped up five spots in 5A.
