The Utah Jazz will be without All-Star guard Donovan Mitchell for at least one more week, the team announced Saturday.
Mitchell has been sidelined since suffering a right ankle sprain during an April 16 contest against the Indiana Pacers and will miss his eighth consecutive game on Saturday when the Jazz host the Toronto Raptors.
The team said that while Mitchell continues to make progress toward a return, he will remain out and be re-evaluated in one week, which would be on May 8 when the Jazz host the Houston Rockets on the second night of a back-to-back in the final game of a five-game home stand which begins with Saturday’s game against the Raptors.
After May 8, the Jazz will have four more games remaining in the regular season, three of which will be on the road.
The Jazz return to Vivint Arena on Saturday after a three-game road trip. Mitchell did not join the team on the trip, staying behind in Salt Lake City with team performance and healthcare vice president Mike Elliott to rehab his injured ankle.
Before sustaining the ankle injury, Mitchell was averaging career highs of 26.4 points, 5.2 assists and 4.4 rebounds per game. Since April 16 Bojan Bogdanovic has led the Jazz in scoring with 19.3 points per game.
