Gina Carano return rumor, explained
Multiple entertainment news blogs and websites have reported that Carano and Disney have reached an agreement that will bring her back to “The Mandalorian” and the “Star Wars” franchise.
Just look at the headlines:
- Inside the Magic — “Is Gina Carano Coming Back to ‘Star Wars’?”
- Epic Stream — “Disney Reportedly Reinstating Gina Carano in ‘The Mandalorian’ Following Controversial Firing”
- We Got This Covered — “Disney Rumored To Be In Talks With Gina Carano About Possible ‘Mandalorian’ Return”
So where do the rumors come from? YouTuber Overlord DVD started the rumor, saying he had heard from two “Hollywood agents,” who said Disney is in talks with Carano about a return as Cara Dune in the “Star Wars” franchise. Per We Got This Covered, Overlord DVD “goes on to make it clear that he backs Carano in this matter, defending the controversial post that ultimately cost the actress her career.”
So is Carano coming back?
So far, we don’t know anything. I’ve reached out to Disney+ for comment on the rumors and have not received a response yet.
However, Carano — who was fired from Lucasfim over months of controversial social media posts — has already seen a change in her relationship with Disney+. Her episode of “Running Wild with Bear Grylls” was believed to have been cut from Disney+ before she revealed that it was coming back, as I wrote for the Deseret News.
