The next stop on Brandon Averette’s basketball journey will be an island nation.

On Friday, the former UVU and BYU guard posted on Twitter that he has joined AEL Limassol in Cyprus, the third largest island in the Mediterranean Sea.

The 5-foot-11, 185-pound Averette has experienced a rather winding road to get to this point. A native of Richardson, Texas, he began his collegiate career at Oklahoma State before transferring to UVU. After one season there, he transferred to BYU for the 2020-21 campaign.

While Barcello will take advantage of the extra year of eligibility afforded him because of the pandemic, Averette indicated when the season concluded that he would be ending his college career.
