When does ‘The Voice’ Season 21 start?

  • Season 21 of “The Voice” premieres Sept. 20, according to the trending news website Heavy.
  • The biggest change in the upcoming season is the arrival of Ariana Grande, who is replacing Nick Jonas as a vocal coach, the Deseret News previously reported.
  • Blake Shelton, Kelly Clarkson and John Legend return to the red swivel chairs for Season 21.
  • One of the biggest questions surrounding the upcoming season was who the celebrity advisers and mentors would be. “The Voice” recently revealed the four artists who will guide the contestants during the show’s Battle round.

Who are the celebrity advisers for ‘The Voice’ Season 21?

The four teams on “The Voice” have secured the following artists as advisers for the Battle round:

  • Team Ariana: Kristin Chenoweth
  • Team Legend: Camila Cabello
  • Team Kelly: Jason Aldean
  • Team Blake: Dierks Bentley

Chenoweth appearing on the competition show generated a lot of buzz on social media.

“!!!!! i am screaming !!!!! ladies and gentlemen, i am honored to announce that my battle advisor for @nbcthevoice is the absolute queen of vocals, of funny, of technique, of kindness, of brilliance and of my heart, the one and only @kchenoweth,” Grande shared on Twitter earlier this week.

“Cannot tell you how thankful i am to have shared this with her and to have been able to ‘teach’ with someone i have learned the absolute most from,” the singer continued. “my heart is in shambles. we had the most fun.”

Chenoweth, who originated the role of Glinda in the Broadway musical “Wicked,” first met Grande several years ago when the budding artist came backstage to meet her during a production of “Wicked,” InStyle reported. During a 2019 appearance on “Late Night with Seth Meyers,” Chenoweth recalled how impressed she was after hearing Grande sing a little during that brief meeting backstage.

“I gave her a wand and I said, ‘Just remember to follow your passion. Do what you love,’” Chenoweth said.

From there, the pair went on to work together a few times, including in 2016 for NBC’s “Hairspray Live!” — where Grande reportedly brought that very wand to rehearsal — and for a cover of Lesley Gore’s “You Don’t Own Me” in 2019 for Chenoweth’s album “For the Girls.”

“She’s the biggest star and I would argue one of the best vocalists alive, if not the best,” Chenoweth told E! News. “For me to be able to watch her become the teacher, that is the real full circle.”

Would Kristin Chenoweth ever become a coach on ‘The Voice’?

Chenoweth told E! News that it was a no-brainer to join “The Voice” as a celebrity adviser.

“Of course I wanted to be here for team Ari, that’s obvious,” she said. “But my goal isn’t to be a coach.”

The singer did go on to say, though, that she wouldn’t rule out the opportunity if it were to arise.

“If I were asked, of course I would consider it,” she said.

Who won the last season of ‘The Voice’?

Cam Anthony, a 19-year-old singer from Philadelphia, won Season 20 of “The Voice” in May, the Deseret News reported.

And the winner of ‘The Voice’ is ...

During that season, Shelton — who has been with “The Voice” since the show first premiered in 2011 — said he believed Anthony “could be the first superstar that we launch off this show,” according to the Deseret News.
