SALT LAKE CITY — This week’s list isn’t totally Halloween-themed, but we won’t leave you hanging, either. If you’re looking for Halloween events, we suggest a very special “Rocky Horror Picture Show” screening at the Tower Theatre, where the film’s star Barry Bostwick will be on hand.

If camp isn’t your thing, head to Abravanel Hall, where the Utah Symphony will team up with the Disney-Pixar film “Coco.” Or go to the Great Saltair in Magna for a surely scary ghost tour.

We’ve got non-Halloween events, too. Read on for more details.

Balanchine’s ‘Ballet Russes’

This highly anticipated new Ballet West production concludes this weekend. Ballet West reworked George Balanchine’s famous “Le Chant du Rossignol” (Song of the Nightingale), eliminating or altering its racial caricatures. In a review for the Deseret News, Heather Hayes wrote, “I can assure you nothing was lost and much was gained by the elimination of head bobs, prayer poses and shuffling feet.” Oct. 31, 7:30 p.m.; Nov. 2, 2 and 7:30 p.m., Capitol Theatre, 50 W. 200 South, $15-$19 (801-355-2787, artsaltlake.org)

‘Coco’ in concert

We’ve got to give a shoutout to the Day of the Dead. The Utah Symphony will accompany Disney-Pixar’s “Coco,” performing the film’s score live while the movie plays. “Coco” won the Oscar for best original song and best animated feature film, so this’ll be a good pairing. Nov. 1-2, 7 p.m., Abravanel Hall, 123 W. South Temple, $31.90-$88 (801-355-2787, artsaltlake.org)

In Disney Pixar’s “Coco,” Miguel’s love of music ultimately leads him to the Land of the Dead where he teams up with charming trickster Hector. “Coco” opens in U.S. theaters on Nov. 22, 2017.

‘The Rocky Horror Picture Show’ with Barry Bostwick

This isn’t your normal “Rocky Horror” screening (is there such a thing?). The Tower Theatre brings Barry Bostwick himself, who played Brad Majors, to this screening for a special pre-show conversation and, before that, a VIP event. Nov. 2, 8 p.m., Tower Theatre, 876 E. 900 South, $35-$100; 6:30 p.m., VIP event; 8 p.m., conversation with Barry Bostwick followed by screening (801-321-0310, saltlakefilmsociety.org)

Saltair paranormal investigation

If there’s a spookier Utah concert venue than the Great Saltair, we haven’t seen it. The historic building, whose first iteration was built in 1893, was once known as the Coney Island of the West. It has endured numerous disasters through the years (flooding, fires and other mishaps) and has been rebuilt multiple times. Is this place haunted? Maybe. Grimm Ghost Tours brings thrill-seekers to the Saltair for a night of paranormal exploration. Nov. 2, 9 p.m., the Great Saltair, 12408 Saltair Dr., Magna, $50 (801-508-4746, grimmghosttours.com)

Canelo vs. Kovalev

Getting punched is spooky, right? Experience boxing on the big screen, as current middleweight champion Canelo Alvarez moves up into the 175-pound weight class, facing off against its champion Sergey Kovalev. The title fight will be broadcast at select local movie theaters. Gloves up! Nov. 2, 7 p.m., select Cinemark Theatres, $20; and select Megaplex Theatres, $16.09 (fathomevents.com).
