Devin Sloane received his sentence for his role in the college admissions scandal, and it might mean something for Lori Loughlin.
Sloane, a business executive from Los Angeles, was sentenced to four months in prison. He received 500 hours of community service and a $95,000 fine.
Sloane was the second parent sentenced in the college admissions scandal Tuesday, as reported by the Deseret News. He pleaded guilty to paying $250,000 so his son could become a fake water polo recruit for the University of Southern California.
Before his sentencing, federal prosecutors suggested Sloane spent one year and a day in jail, along with a $75,000 fine and 12 months of supervised released, per USA Today.
Sloane’s lawyers argued for him to receive 2,000 hours of community service and the chance to oversee a new Special Olympics program for independent schools.
The case is somewhat close to Loughlin’s case. She and her husband Mossimo Giannulli pleaded not guilty to accusations of spending $500,000 in bribes so that their daughters, Olivia Jade and Isabella Rose Giannulli, could be team crew recruits for USC.
Former federal prosecutor told Miguel Almaguer on Today.com that this isn’t a good sign for Loughlin.
“If Felicity Huffman did not get probation, none of them will,’’ former federal prosecutor Francey Hakes told Today. “Each sentence I think will get longer.”
Speculation grew on social media about Loughlin after Huffman’s sentencing, according to the Deseret News. Loughlin and her husband could face up to 40 years.
