Post Malone — who currently lives in Utah — absolutely dominated the 2020 Billboard Music Awards, snagging nine awards including top artist and top male artist.
- Post Malone has now won 10 total BBMA trophies.
He said he was “blown away, just by the love that everybody’s shown to me”.
- “We just try our best every day... to reach out to people who might not have anybody to turn to and show everybody that they’re not alone, and music can bring everybody together,” he added.
- “It’s absolutely incredible and I just want to say, thank you so very much, ladies and gentlemen. I’m blown away. I’m floored.”
Post Malone performed earlier in the night, performing his hit “Circles” and “Tommy Lee” with Tyla Yahweh.
Kelly Clarkson, who hosted the event, brought Post Malone’s awards over to him in a cart.
- “I can’t touch you, so I had to wheel it out,” she said, according to BBC News.
Malone was nominated for 16 awards at the annual show, which was shy of his personal record of 17 nominations in 2019.
Malone previously gave the University of Utah a shoutout by wearing a hat from the university on the Joe Rogan podcast. He said Utah was “incredible” and “free.”
He said he likes making music in Utah because “you feel like you’re a part of something bigger but you’re so insignificant. You can just say, I accept everything around me and I’m relaxed and I’m at peace, knowing that ... the world’s spinning around you and everything happens for a reason.”
