It looks like “Star Wars” just added another new show.
What’s going on?
Disney announced Monday that “The Book of Boba Fett” — which was teased at the end of the “The Mandalorian” season 2 finale — will be an original series set within the timeline of “The Mandalorian.”
- The series will star Temuera Morrison as Boba Fett and Ming-na Wen as Fennec.
- Jon Favreau and Dave Filoni will produce the show.
- The original series will debut in December 2021.

Why it matters
After “The Mandalorian” season 2 finale, an end credits scene showed Boba Fett taking over Jabba’s Palace. A title card flashed up that read: “The Book of Boba Fett” and that it was coming in 2021.
Speculation arose over the weekend about whether “BOBF” was a spinoff or would be the third season of “The Mandalorian.” We now have an answer.

The show has been rumored for a while. Reports surfaced in November 2020 that Boba Fett would get his own miniseries with Disney, though it was unclear when it would begin production.
