Warning: Spoilers for “The Mandalorian” season 2’s premiere episode.
“The Mandalorian” released its second season premiere episode Friday morning, and it was a wild episode with an intriguing cliffhanger.
Recap:
The episode focused on the Mandalorian (Pedro Pascal) and the Child (Baby Yoda) venturing to Tatooine, where they came into contact with a marshal named Cobb Vanth (Timothy Olyphant), who wore Mandalorian armor. The Mandalorian and Vanth teamed up to defeat a sand dragon called a Krayt. If they killed the monster, Vanth would surrender the armor to Mando.
What happened at the end?
The Mandalorian drove off on a speeder bike with Boba Fett’s armor hanging off the back of his speeder bike, winning the day and the loot that he sought after in the episode.
A figure watched from afar. He had a rifle attacked to his back. He was bald with a scar or two across his face.
Cobb Vanth admitted earlier that he got Boba Fett’s armor from the Jawas, which suggests the bounty hunter is still alive and made his way out of the Sarlacc pit.
What it means moving forward:
We don’t know for sure that this is Boba Fett. Temuera Morrison played all sorts of clones, so it could be an aged clone trooper who was stranded in Tatooine. But more than likely, it means Boba Fett has returned to the “Star Wars” galaxy. Whatever happens next is anyone’s guess.
Rumors on Boba Fett:
Speculation has run rampant for awhile about whether or not Boba Fett would return in “The Mandalorian.” Reports leaked that Morrison would return to “Star Wars” in “The Mandalorian” in a small role as Boba Fett.
But Boba Fett may have already appeared in “The Mandalorian” Season 1, specifically at the 18:31 mark of the pilot episode and at the end of the fifth episode when a pair of spurred boots stepped into the frame.
