It’s been an eventful past week for Kyle Van Noy.
Just a few days after he was announced as a new inductee into the BYU Athletic Hall of Fame, Van Noy signed with the Minnesota Vikings for his 13th NFL season, according to a Tuesday report from Tom Pelissero of The Ringer.
As reported by Pelissero, Van Noy will begin his Minnesota tenure on the team’s practice squad to “ramp up” for game action after missing all of training camp.
Van Noy spent the past three years with the Baltimore Ravens, where he posted the two highest single-season sack totals of his career (nine in 2023, 12.5 in 2024) and made the 2024 Pro Bowl.
In 173 NFL contests with the Ravens, New England Patriots, Miami Dolphins, Los Angeles Chargers and Detroit Lions, Van Noy has recorded 57 sacks (the most for any BYU alum) with 14 forced fumbles, four interceptions and three defensive touchdowns.
Van Noy, who won two Super Bowls with the Patriots, now reunites in Minnesota with Vikings defensive coordinator Brian Flores, who was Van Noy’s linebackers coach in New England.
Arguably the most dominant defensive player in program history, Van Noy’s BYU career included 25 sacks, 61.5 tackles for loss, seven interceptions, 11 forced fumbles and five touchdowns.
