Tyra Banks recently reflected on the first time that she met Kobe Bryant in a new interview with “The Breakfast Club,” sharing more details about the late Los Angeles Lakers legend.
What did Banks say about Bryant?
- Banks said she hadn’t talked to Bryant for many years. She said it was probably close to 10 years, according to Pop Culture.
- She said she remembered the first time she met Kobe.
- Banks said: “He sits on my couch and I just school him on LA — what to look out for and ‘here’s my number if you ever need anything.’ So to me whenever I saw him, I just saw that 17-year-old kid in my eyes.”
- Banks said she ran into Bryant at the Nickelodeon Kid’s Choice Awards. She said she and Kobe collaborated with a song called “K.O.B.E.” that never was popular.
More memorials
- Banks wasn’t the only celebrity to celebrate Bryant this week. The Staples Center was packed with athletes, family and friends who honored Bryant in a memorial service, as I wrote for the Deseret News.
- Performers at the event include Alicia Keys, Christina Aguilera and Beyonce.
- Jimmy Kimmel also spoke at the vent: “I don’t think any of us could have imagined this. Everywhere you go you see his face, his number, Gigi’s face, Gigi’s number. Everywhere and every intersection.
