PROVO — Stadium of Fire is still happening on July 4 this year. It’s just going to be a bit different.

America’s Freedom Festival, the long-running organization that hosts the Provo-based Stadium of Fire each year, announced Thursday that this year’s event will revolve around a one-hour TV special, “The Best of Stadium of Fire,” rather than the in-person entertainment that usually fills Brigham Young University’s LaVell Edwards Stadium.

Originally, this year’s Stadium of Fire was going to celebrate its 40th anniversary, but that celebration has been postponed to 2021.

“The Best of Stadium of Fire” TV special will air July 4 at 9 p.m. MT on KSL-TV 5 in Utah.

Marie Osmond and Lou Diamond Phillips will co-host the special, which highlights performances from past Stadium of Fire headliners, such as The Beach Boys, Carrie Underwood and Brian Regan.

According to Thursday’s announcement, the TV special will also be televised to more than 1 million armed forces members in more than 100 countries via the American Forces Network.

Right after the broadcast, at 10 p.m. MT, three large synchronized fireworks displays will commence across Utah County.

Fireworks will be launched from LaVell Edwards Stadium in Provo (1700 N. Canyon Rd.), Footprinter Park in Provo (1150 S. 1350 West) and Orem Community Park (581 W. 165 South).
