Community Briefs

  • The Gateway in Salt Lake City has announced a new “Dine to Donate” punch card that will help contribute to the restaurant community. Diners can collect punches on the card by eating at one of The Gateway’s participating restaurants before July 31. Once the card has been filled up with four lunches and four dinners, The Gateway will make a $5 donation to the Tip Your Server program, where every donation will go directly to hospitality workers in Salt Lake City. Everyone who turns in a punch card will also receive a #SaltLakeStrong tote bag. Diners can print their own “Dine to Donate” punch card here or pick one up from a participating restaurant at The Gateway.
  • The 2020 Summit County Fair is accepting submissions from Summit County residents for its Fine Arts Exhibit, which will take place online at the websites for the Summit County Fair and Arts Council from Aug. 6-8. Submission categories for the Fine Arts Exhibit include photography, oil/acrylic painting, watercolor, graphic arts, sculpture, pottery, glass and metal. Traditional jurying of first, second and third place ribbons will not take place this year. Instead, the County Council will review the digital art submissions and select one adult piece and one youth piece of artwork to be added to the Summit County Fine Art Collection. Honorariums for the purchase of the artwork will be given to the two artists of the pieces that are selected. Those interested must apply here by July 31.
