Walmart made national news in early July when the chain announced its upcoming drive-in movie series, in which Walmart parking lots across the country will be converted into drive-in movie theaters.
The good news keeps coming. On Wednesday, Walmart announced its lineup of movies that will play at select Walmart drive-ins Aug. 14 through Oct. 21. According to Entertainment Weekly, the movie lineup is as follows:
- “Back to the Future”
- “Beetlejuice”
- “Black Panther”
- “Cars”
- “Dolphin Tale”
- “E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial”
- “Friday Night Lights”
- “Ghostbusters”
- “The Goonies”
- “The Iron Giant”
- “The Karate Kid”
- “The Lego Batman Movie”
- “The Lego Movie”
- “Madagascar”
- “Men in Black: International”
- “Pokémon Detective Pikachu”
- “Selena”
- “Space Jam”
- “Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse”
- “Spy Kids”
- “Teen Titans GO! To the Movies”
- “The Wizard of Oz”
- “Wonder Woman”
Walmart will announce which locations will play which movies beginning Wednesday at 3 p.m MT. To check these dates, locations and movies, visit thewalmartdrivein.com.
The following Utah Walmart locations are being included in the drive-in series:
- Syracuse: Aug. 25 and 26
- American Fork: Aug. 28 and 29
- Lindon: Sept. 1 and 2
- Springville: Sept. 4 and 5
- Payson: Sept. 8 and 9
According to Entertainment Weekly, each presentation will also include a screening of a short film. Some of the short films included in the series are “Bilby,” “Bird Karma,” “Brooklyn Breeze,” “CROW: The Legend,” “Fire in Cardboard City,” “INVASION!” “Looney Tunes’ Boo! Appetweet” and “Marooned.”
Drew Barrymore will be the virtual host for all events, and will make a surprise in-person visit at one of the series’ 160 locations.
Some more important details about the drive-in series:
- One ticket required per vehicle.
- Tickets are free, but must be requested in advance.
- Tickets won’t be available at the gate.
- Gates open at 6 p.m. and each film begins at 7:30 p.m. No late entry allowed.
- A mask is required when outside your vehicle.
- No alcohol is allowed.
- An FM radio is required for audio.
- Vehicles are allowed to contain as many people as there are available seatbelts.
