Disney may soon add characters from “The Mandalorian” to the Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge experience at Disneyland and Disney World, which would take away the sequel trilogy stars.
What’s going on?
Jim Hill, a Disney historian, recently told the Disney Dish podcast that “The Mandalorian” characters might roam in Galaxy’s Edge in the near future.
- The Mandalorian, Grogu and Boba Fett may soon appear at the Black Spire Outpost there on Batuu, the fictional planet where Galaxy’s Edge takes place.
- In fact, Hill said that Kylo Ren’s ship might be removed and replaced with Mando’s ship, the Razor Crest.
- Hill said adding these new characters into the park will give it a fresh upgrade. In fact, characters from the upcoming film “Rogue Squadron” could appear a swell, Collider reports.
Additional rumors:
There have been some reports that Disney has found attendees don’t want to see Kylo Ren or Rey when they visit the park, especially since Kylo Ren killed Han Solo.
- In fact, reports suggest Disney is determining the cost of making a transition at Galaxy’s Edge, which suggests the change could happen sooner rather than later.
Bigger picture:
I visited Galaxy’s Edge at Walt Disney World in late 2019 and had somewhat of a similar thought about the park. Galaxy’s Edge doesn’t undergo fresh upgrades often, so any sort of change might add to the experience. It doesn’t help that the experience centers around characters that existed in the sequel trilogy, which ended last December. The lightsaber battles and story-within-the-park — Rey running from Kylo Ren — holds less interest since we know the results based on the events of “Rise of Skywalker.”
