Marvel’s upcoming “What If…?” animated series will explore alternative stories about heroes and villains that we saw on the big screen — and it will feature plenty of Marvel Cinematic Universe cameos.

“What If…?” is an upcoming Disney+ animated series that will explore alternate versions of stories told in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
Writer AC Bradley recently revealed the series will feature cameos from the MCU.
- “Spoilers! But I can say that there are more than a few surprising MCU cameos… and characters can and do pop up in more than one episode!”
More on ‘What If...?’
The series is set to tell alternate stories for characters like Thor, Hawkeye, Loki and Black Panther, among others. It is inspired by a comic series of the same name. The series will “flip the script on the Marvel Cinematic Universe and reimagine famous events from the films in unexpected ways,” Marvel’s website states.
- For example, one episode will explore what would happen if “Peggy Carter became a super soldier instead of Steve Rogers?”
So far, Chris Hemsworth, Mark Ruffalo, Paul Rudd, Sebastian Stan, Jeremy Renner, Tom Hiddleston, and the late Chadwick Boseman have reprised their roles from the MCU.
- The series will also introduce a new character— the Watcher, who will be voiced by Jeffrey Wright. Watchers are aliens who look over the Marvel multiverses.
