The Direct reports that retailer Entertainment Earth recently sent emails to customers who pre-ordered “The Mandalorian” Cara Dune toy saying it will no longer be produced.
Instagram account dis.pops posted a picture of the email on Instagram.
Unfortunately, we’re sorry to report that the manufacturer has notified us that we will not be receiving any additional shipments of the Star Wars: The Mandalorian Cara Dune Pop! Vinyl Figure (Item FU42065) you ordered because they have discontinued production of this item. No additional information was provided to us by the manufacturer as to why this occurred. Sadly, that means we will not be able to ship it to you and have canceled it from your order. We apologize for any inconvenience this causes.
Carano was let go from “The Mandalorian” and other “Star Wars” projects after she shared a social media post that compared modern political disputes to Nazi Germany, which I wrote about for the Deseret News.
- A Lucasfilm spokesperson said in a statement to i09: “Gina Carano is not currently employed by Lucasfilm and there are no plans for her to be in the future. Nevertheless, her social media posts denigrating people based on their cultural and religious identities are abhorrent and unacceptable.”
Hasbro also stopped selling action figures based on Carano’s “The Mandalorian” character Cara Dune, per The Hollywood Reporter. Toy retailer BigBadToyStore told The Hollywood Reporter that it canceled preorders for Dune toys because they weren’t being made anymore due to the recent controversy surrounding Carano.
- “The ‘Star Wars’ Black Cara Dune figure was released in 2020 and sold out not long after the inventory was received,” a BigBadToyStore spokeswoman told The Hollywood Reporter. “Hasbro planned for another production run and we were accepting preorders from that production run. Due to recent events, Hasbro was no longer approved to produce any more of this figure.”
