Krispy Kreme wants people to get their COVID-19 vaccines — so it will be giving away free doughnuts as a reward.
What is Krispy Kreme doing?
Krispy Kreme said Monday it will give a free doughnut to those who can show a valid COVID-19 vaccination card at the company’s locations across the country.
- The free donut will be available at all of the Krispy Kreme locations in the United States.
Dave Skena, the Krispy Kreme chief marketing officer, told USA Today that the deal will be available “anytime, any day, every day for the rest of the year.”
- Skena said Krispy Kreme wants individuals to get vaccinated. So offering free donuts will hopefully be another incentive for people to get the vaccine.
- “We wanted it to be big enough to sort of catch people’s attention and spread awareness,” Skena told USA Today. “I think anything anyone can do to help show support for those getting the vaccine is a good thing right now and so we’re just trying to do what little we can.”

The Wall Street Journal reports that companies and marketers are planning giveaways to encourage people to get the COVID-19 vaccine.
- “The marketing industry has reacted to the pandemic as it unfolded, starting when brands last spring pulled planned campaigns and replaced them with somber messages acknowledging the ‘uncertain times,’” according to The Wall Street Journal. “They later began cautious marketing pegged to the end of the initial lockdowns. By last month’s Super Bowl, Budweiser skipped its usual in-game commercial and promised to redirect the investment toward vaccine awareness. Now come promotions for the vaccinated.”
