“The Real Housewives of Salt Lake City” was reportedly filming when star Jennifer Shah was arrested Tuesday.
Why was Jen Shah arrested?
Shah was arrested for her alleged role in a massive fraud and money laundering scheme, as the Deseret News reported.
- Shah faces federal charges of “conspiracy to commit wire fraud and money laundering in a purported long-running telemarketing scam,” according to NBC New York.
- She was arrested in Salt Lake City on an indictment from Manhattan federal court.
- Stuart Smith, who appeared with Shah on “Real Housewives,” was also arrested in the scheme.
Was ‘Real Housewives’ filming during Jen Shah’s arrest?
“The Real Housewives of Salt Lake City” debuted its first season in November 2020. An unnamed source told People magazine that the second season was filming at the time of Shah’s arrest. In fact, the crew was filming as the group prepared for a trip.
- “The cast left for a trip to Vail on Tuesday, including Jen,” the source told People magazine. “She was filming.”
According to Variety, a source told the Instagram page @twojudgeygirls that “Real Housewives” was filming ahead of a trip to Colorado. According to Variety, Shah said she had an emergency with her husband and she left the set.
Andy Cohen, the executive producer of the “Real Housewives” franchise, told Variety that the show’s second season had begun filming already.
- “This could mean that Shah’s arrest could have been captured on camera and might be seen in the show,” according to Insider.

Shah recently faced controversy due to an alleged leaked audio clip that included her yelling at staff members, Page Six reports. Her lawyers filed a cease and desist letter to Instagram accounts who shared the leaked audio.
