Social media is speculating that Black Widow appears in the trailer for the upcoming Disney+ Marvel series “Loki.”

Marvel Studios released the first official trailer for the upcoming series “Loki,” which will focus on the 2012 version of Loki being captured by the Time Variance Authority and having to fix the universe’s timeline.

One scene in the trailer shows Loki sitting on what appears to be a boat or a dock with a red-headed woman as they watch what looks like fireworks.

Interestingly, “Black Widow” — the solo film for the character Black Widow — will be released on July 9, which is the same day as the second-to-last episode of “Loki.” So if there were ever a date for a crossover event, that might be the one. Of course, “Black Widow” is set to take place just after “Captain America: Civil War,” which would be years after the “Loki” series (which reportedly takes place after the first “Avengers” movie). Although Loki seems to be jumping through time in his new series, so it could, in theory, happen.

But Marvel has a way of messing with its audience to drum up the speculation. There may be a reason why we can’t see the front of this woman’s face. There’s also speculation that the woman is Lady Loki, who is a female version of Loki who shifts forms and appears in the comics.

Right now, it’s unclear who the mysterious new character is. Disney nor Marvel have confirmed anything about it. So we’ll have to wait and see. Fans will try to figure out the identity sooner rather than later, though.
