There’s another hint of Lori Loughlin’s potential return to “When Calls the Heart.” It might be a bit of a reach, but it is something — so “When Calls the Heart” fans will want to know about it.
Per Heavy.com, actor Carter Ryan was recently spotted on set for the new season of “When Calls the Heart.” Ryan plays the character Cody, who is the son of Abigail Stanton.
Lori Loughlin used to play Abigail Stanton on “When Calls the Heart” before she was cut from the series after the college admissions scandal.
Why did Cody leave the show?
We last saw Cody on the episode “Heart of a Mountie” in 2019. That episode aired in May 2019. Cody’s appearance happened after “When Calls the Heart” took a small break to deal with the creative decisions following Loughlin’s departure. Lori Loughlin left the show in March 2019.
We learned about Abigail Stanton’s departure when the show returned, as I wrote for the Deseret News. Elizabeth (Erin Krakow) narrated a letter she was writing, explaining what happened to Abigail Stanton
- “We never know how life will turn,” she wrote in the letter, according to Entertainment Weekly.. “It’s been a week since Abigail got word that her mother had taken ill back East. True to her nature, Abigail wasted no time in rushing off to care for her.
- “Abigail is much more than a friend. She’s family, and I will miss her and Cody deeply. We all will. But we must get by as best we can.”
Is Cody Stanton returning to ‘When Calls the Heart’ next season?
Probably not. Per Heavy.com, Ryan visited the set for fun — not because he was joining the show again. Cast members revealed on social media that Ryan was not on set for filming.
Is Lori Loughlin coming back to ‘When Calls the Heart’ soon?
But the recent appearance adds to the speculation that Lori Loughlin could return to the show. “When Calls the Heart” star Erin Krakow said in February 2021 that she would support Loughlin’s return to the show.
- “Well, I sure hope so,” Krakow said. “Real life Abigail is one of my dearest friends. Her name still hangs on a sign above the cafe. She will always be an incredibly important part of ‘When Calls the Heart.’ I would love to see her character back in Hope Valley again. We’ve got a lot more exciting stories that we could tell with her.”
