A new episode of “Disney Gallery: The Mandalorian” — which offers behind-the-scenes information about “The Mandalorian” — recently revealed that a different Jedi was teased for the Season 2 finale to keep Luke Skywalker’s cameo a secret.
What happened in ‘The Mandalorian’ Season 2 finale?
Luke Skywalker showed up in “The Mandalorian” Season 2 finale. He appeared at the end of the episode, saving the Mandalorian (Pedro Pascal) and Grogu (Baby Yoda) from Moff Gideon (Giancarlo Esposito) and the Dark Troopers.
Luke then asked Mando if he could take Grogu with him to teach him the ways of the Force, since Luke is a Jedi Master. Grogu protested at first.
“He wants your permission,” Luke said during the finale. “He is strong with the Force, but talent without training is nothing. I will give my life to protect the Child, but he will not be safe until he masters his abilities.”
Was Plo Koon going to show up in ‘The Mandalorian’ finale?
In order to fool cast and crew members, the show creators wrote a fake script, which explained that the legendary Jedi Plo Koon showed up to save the day.
The script explained Plo Koon showing up on the Imperial ship’s bridge, lowering his hood and then defeating the Dark Troopers, much in the same way that Luke Skywalker did in the final.
Concept art of the moment — which was shown to the cast and crew of “The Mandalorian” as a way to fool people — was shared online. Indeed, the art shows Plo Koon with his blue lightsaber and full Jedi garb.
Who is Plo Koon?
Plo Koon was a Jedi Master who first appeared in “Star Wars: The Phantom Menace” as a member of the Jedi Council. He also appeared in “Star Wars: Attack of the Clones” and “Revenge of the Sith.”
In “Revenge of the Sith,” Plo Koon was killed during Order 66 — which was the full execution of the Jedi — on the planet Cato Neimodia.
