On Oct. 17, a producer for Angel Original epic historical drama “The Chosen” expressed support for Israel while on the red carpet.

“And honestly, we just stand with Israel right now,” producer Chad Gundersen told The Christian Post. “It’s that simple. And it’s heartbreaking to see what’s going on over there.”

This isn’t the first member of the cast or crew from “The Chosen” that has expressed support for Israel.

Oct. 7 marked the day Hamas attacked Israel and killed 1,400 people in the deadliest attack Israel has faced since 1948, Reuters reported. On the day of this attack, the official Instagram account of “The Chosen” posted a picture of Jonathan Roumie as Jesus with the caption “#Israel.”

In a recent press conference, Deseret News asked about the post in support of Israel on “The Chosen” official account.

“We love Israel. We’re deeply concerned about what’s happening in the Middle East in general,” Katherine Warnock, vice president of original content, said. “And I think that the post speaks for itself. We feel Jesus is weeping and we weep with Him across the board. And we ask you to join us in weeping and in prayer, frankly.”

The show’s creator and director, Dallas Jenkins, posted a statement on his personal Instagram account on Oct. 12.

“I wanted to give you an update about our friends in Israel. We have many Chosen family members who are impacted: translators and advocates, cultural and religious consultants, and of course our Simon, Shahar Isaac, who lives near Capernaum,” Jenkins wrote on Instagram. “At the moment, all are okay, but please continue prayers. Some of them are literally on the front lines while others are in shelters. We kneel with them.”

Jonathan Roumie, the actor who plays Jesus, posted a request for prayers on Instagram for all innocent victims.

“Pray with me now. One of the most powerful prayers/meditations you can do, no matter where you fall on the faith spectrum,” Roumie wrote on Instagram. “Please pray this rosary with me for ALL the innocent victims of the war in Israel and Palestine. God bless you.”
