You probably have New Year’s Day off — but since the holiday is in the middle of the week, you might not have a lot of plans.

Luckily, there are a few notable movies in theaters right now.

Here are some of the movies that will be playing in theaters on New Year’s Day.

‘Mufasa: The Lion King’

Rated: PG

“Mufasa: The Lion King” is a prequel to the Disney classic. The film follows a young Mufasa (Aaron Pierre) and Prince Taka (Kelvin Harrison Jr.) — who later becomes Scar.

With music by Lin-Manuel Miranda, “Mufasa” explores the relationship and the backstory between the two brothers — and how they eventually became enemies.

‘Sonic the Hedgehog 3′

Rated: PG

In the third installment of the popular “Sonic the Hedgehog” franchise — based on the video games of the same name — Sonic (Ben Schwartz), Knuckles (Idris Elba) and Tails (Colleen O’Shaughnessey) reunite to defeat Shadow (Keanu Reeves).

‘A Complete Unknown’

Rated: R

“A Complete Unknown” follows the storied career of Bob Dylan (Timothée Chalamet), from his humble beginnings as a fresh-faced 19-year-old in New York City to the wildly popular singer-songwriter that we know today.

‘The Lord of the Rings: The War of the Rohirrim’

Rated: PG-13

Set over 200 years before the events of “The Lord of the Rings,” “The Lord of the Rings: The War of the Rohirrim” chronicles the legendary battle between Helm Hammerhand and Wulf, a Dunlending lord.

The battle culminates in an epic final stand in Hornburg, which will be later known as as Helm’s Deep.

‘Wicked: Part 1′

If you still haven’t seen “Wicked: Part 1,” don’t fret — it’s still playing at a theater near you.

The hit movie-musical explores the background of Glinda (Ariana Grande) and Elphaba, the Wicked Witch of the West (Cynthia Eriva) — and the very unlikely friendship between the two.
