“The Dragon Prince” series first made its appearance on Netflix in 2018. The show follows three young children — Callum (Jack De Sena), Ezran (Sasha Rojen) and Rayla (Paula Burrows) — on their adventures through human kingdoms and the land of Xadia.

With dragons, elves, magic and more, this show takes viewers on wild ride, and the most recent season is no exception.

Before looking at what’s next for the show, here is what happened in Season 7.

What happened in ‘The Dragon Prince’ Season 7?

In the beginning of this season, a divide forms between Ezran and Callum. As king, Ezran tries to understand what to do for his people after the destruction of Katolas. Callum chooses to help Rayla free her father, Runaan (Jonathan Holmes), after Ezran locked him up and return to the Silver Grove.

Next, viewers see Claudia (Racquel Belmonte) and Aaravos (Erik Dellums) working together to create a moon primal stone. This is all part of their plan to release the spirits from the In Between and use the Sun Seed to create eternal night.

And to finish off the season, Ezran, Callum and Rayla rally the elves, humans and dragons to take on Aaravos. Things become difficult when Callum finds that Claudia has killed the only elf that could create another prison for Aaravos. New plans are formed and the heroes are able to destroy Aaravos, for at least seven more years.

But that’s only the basics.

Shocking twists and more questions

This season showed new sides of loved characters and left fans with so many questions.

Ezran’s anger

For the first time, fans see Ezran’s grief cause him to lash out in anger and violence, specifically toward Callum and Runaan. This can be understandable when Callum chooses to help Runaan — the man who killed their father — escape.

However, this change is hard to witness. So it is a relief when fans see the kindhearted, mature Ezran return later in the season.

Claudia’s acceptance

Claudia also experiences changes in her path with Aaravos. Their interactions during this season sometimes make it hard to not hate Aaravos as he treats Claudia more like a daughter than a servant. This bond also causes Claudia to take control and own the path she is on.

“She’s taken ownership,” said creator Aaron Ehasz in an interview with CBR. “That’s not to say that she’s more powerful or that it’s her path, but she’s taken ownership of this path in a very clear way.”

Callum’s true self and the prophecy

Fear creeps in when fans realize Callum may have to result to dark magic in order to save everyone else. A little bit of relief comes when he comes up with another plan, but not for long when it all falls apart.

You might begin to understand why dark magic is needed when Astrid (Boone Williams) tells Callum the rest of Kosmo’s (Ethan Farrell) prophecy.

But is “the one with dark eyes” really supposed to be Callum?

King Harrow returns

Finally the biggest twist of all: King Harrow is alive.

It makes sense that after Ezran finds the will to try and forgive Runaan, he wants to know if the king had any last words. But Runaan only remembered the king sounding like a bird. This means that Viren (Jason Simpson) found a way to save King Harrow.

“The Dragon Prince” creators told CBR that this was their plan since “day 1.”

Will ‘The Dragon Prince’ have a Season 8?

View Comments

It is unclear if there will be a Season 8. On X, Netflix referred to this season as being the “final chapter.”

However, the show creators told Screen Rant that “the world of Xadia will live no matter what.”

Originally, Netflix wasn’t going to continue after Season 3, but gave the show four more seasons.

Will they consider continuing the series again? Fans can only hope.
