In light of the ongoing Southern California wildfires, Meghan, Duchess of Sussex, postponed the January premiere of her upcoming Netflix series, “With Love, Meghan,” to Tuesday, March 4, reported Netflix.

“With Love, Meghan” is a reality series hosted and produced by Meghan, who cooks, tends to her gardens, nurtures a backyard beehive and chats with celebrity guest stars and other close friends. The series was originally set to premiere Wednesday.

“I’m thankful to my partners at Netflix for supporting me in delaying the launch, as we focus on the needs of those impacted by the wildfires in my home state of California,” Meghan said in a statement.

Meghan’s lifestyle series, which was shot in Montecito, California, is a “heartfelt tribute to the beauty of Southern California,” Netflix said.

“Delaying the release of ‘With Love, Meghan’ was likely an easy decision for her. I don’t think she could imagine putting out a show centered on joy and hosting when so many people in her home state no longer have homes to host people in,” an industry insider told People.

The California fires have burned more than 62 square miles and burnt down over 12,300 structures, as reported by the Deseret News. At least 24 lives have been claimed by the fire and 16 people are still missing in burned areas.

As fires ravaged Los Angeles county last week, Meghan, who is an LA native, and her husband, Prince Harry, opened their home in Montecito to friends and loved ones who were displaced by evacuation orders, People reported on Friday.

In addition to opening their doors to friends in need, the couple also released a statement about the fires, urging people to donate and help those affected by the blaze.

“In the last few days, wildfires in Southern California have raged through neighborhoods and devastated families, homes, schools, medical care centers, and so much more — affecting tens of thousands from all walks of life,” a statement from the couple read.

“If you feel compelled to help, here are some resources and ideas,” the statement continued, and provided a list of organizations to consider donating to, such as the Los Angeles Fire Department and the Animal Wellness Foundation.

The couple added, “If a friend, loved one, or pet has to evacuate and you are able to offer them a safe haven in your home, please do. And be sure to check in with any disabled or elderly neighbors to see if they need help evacuating.”

Meghan and Harry also encouraged people to “consider donating clothing, children’s toys & clothing, and other essentials.”

Over the weekend, the couple met with California wildfire survivors and first responders in Pasadena, reported The New York Times.

“They really buoyed the spirits of the first responders,” Pasadena Mayor Victor Gordo told Fox 11 Los Angeles, which broadcast footage of the visit. “People were very happy to see them.”

He continued, “They want to be as helpful as they can be. Really, they just want to be supportive ... they took the time to meet the people who are affected ... they are just very caring people who are concerned for their friends and neighbors.”
