“The Chosen” team gathered in New York City on Thursday afternoon for a Times Square takeover featuring portraits taken by photographer Annie Leibovitz.

Dallas Jenkins, Jonathan Roumie, Elizabeth Tabish and other members of “The Chosen” cast unveiled the new posters shot by Leibovitz to promote the series’ upcoming Season 5 release — which premieres in theaters March 28.

“What makes her work so extraordinary is she tells stories — in seconds — and then you look deeper and you find more,” Jenkins said in a statement regarding Leibovitz, per Variety.

He continued, “We’re trying to tell stories of some of the most iconic people who ever lived. They actually lived and breathed and had fear and doubt and felt things like joy and betrayal. So in a season like this, where you see all of those things, it felt like the season that was in need of someone most like her to communicate that photographically. When she agreed to do it, we knew that it was going to elevate the show and bring something to it with her portraits that we can’t do.”

“I admire what Dallas Jenkins is doing so much,” Leibovitz said in a statement, per Variety. “He is the artist of our time doing the Bible.”

While gathered in Times Square, “The Chosen” director Dallas Jenkins said the New York City display was made possible by fans of the series.

“This is because of you. Your donations, your prayer and support allows us to do something like this,” Jenkins said in a live clip of the event. “More people are going to watch the show now because of this ... more eyeballs are going to see the show now.”

“This is unbelievable and overwhelming,” Jenkins said. “This is in Times Square, in New York City, a Jesus show has taken over.”

Elizabeth Tabish, who plays Mary Magdalene on “The Chosen,” called the experience “surreal and exciting.”

“Seeing your face in Times Square doesn’t quite compute,” said Andrew James Allen, who plays Pontius Pilate in the series.

Jonathan Roumie said he was “still in a state of shock” while at the Times Square takeover.

”Does it get any better? Does it get any bigger? Literally in Times Square with Annie Leibovitz, I don’t think it does."
