The 98th Academy Awards kicked off a record-breaking season, starting with a historic field of nominees and capping the year at the Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles.

“Sinners” led the pack with a record 16 nominations, taking home four awards for the night.

In the animation category, “KPop Demon Hunters” took home the Oscar for best animated feature, becoming the first animated film featuring Korean characters and culture to do so. The film’s hit song “Golden” became the first K-pop song to win best original song.

The night featured several other milestones including a rare tie for live-action short film, the first-ever Oscar for casting awarded to Cassandra Kulukundis for her work on “One Battle After Another,” the addition of a new member to the exclusive club of three-time winners, Sean Penn, and the first woman to win the Academy Award for cinematography, Autumn Durald Arkapaw.

Host Conan O’Brien returned to the stage for the second consecutive year. His commentary included a nod to Timothée Chalamet’s recent remarks regarding opera and ballet.
