The two new quarterbacks for the Las Vegas Raiders recently bonded over the best “Star Wars” film, their favorite football play and ... a love of Donny Osmond.
Kirk Cousins, Fernando Mendoza shout out Donny Osmond
The Raiders released their 2026–27 season schedule with a video that shows NFL veteran quarterback Kirk Cousins and rookie Fernando Mendoza becoming best friends while parodying the 2008 film “Step Brothers.”
Taking on a mentor role for Mendoza, the future face of the franchise, Cousins shows the rookie the lay of the land and provides a little tour of the locker room.
Standing at his locker, Cousins dramatically reveals “the most prized possession” from his 15-year NFL career.
“This is a signed sword from Las Vegas’ own Donny Osmond,” he says solemnly.
“I loved him in ‘Joseph’ the musical,” Mendoza responds as Cousins begins to smile and sing a part of “Go, Go, Go Joseph.”
“Don’t stare at this too long,” Cousins then sternly admonishes.
The video, which was released last week and has more than 3 million views on X, got a shoutout from Osmond himself.
“Good to know the signed sword is a staple in the artifact collection!” Osmond, who has an award-winning show at Harrah’s on the Las Vegas Strip, wrote on X. “I’ll trade you some Raiders tickets for Harrah’s tickets anytime! Thanks for including me in this hilarious skit! Welcome to Las Vegas Fernando & Kirk!”
Osmond previously made an appearance at the 2022 NFL Draft in Las Vegas and made a lighthearted pitch to join the team.
“I’m actually going for the draft,” Osmond told Los Angeles magazine at the time. “For the Raiders. They’re going to sign me, and not as a safety, but as a singer.”
“I did just get the award for best residency and best entertainer in Las Vegas, so if that carries any weight, I should be part of the Raiders,” he added.
What else is Donny Osmond up to?
The longtime entertainer continues his solo residency at Harrah’s, a 90-minute whirlwind show that travels through the different eras of his six-decade career.
“Every night for the audience, five nights a week, I define who I am,” he told the Deseret News in a 2024 interview. “Who I was, who I am, and who I am now.”
In a couple of weeks, Osmond will wrap the show up for a summer break. In late June, he’ll appear as a guest artist for the Tabernacle Choir at Temple Square’s benefit concert at the Hollywood Bowl in Los Angeles, as the Deseret News reported.
He’ll return to the Vegas stage at the start of September.
The “Puppy Love” singer also just announced 2027 tour dates for the U.K. throughout January and February.
