Whitney Leavitt has already starred in “The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives,” competed on “Dancing with the Stars,” filmed a holiday romance movie and made her Broadway debut — and now, her resume continues to get longer.
This week, the 33-year-old announced that she will be returning to Broadway this winter as part of the musical “Just In Time.” Her casting follows her three-month stint as Roxie Hart in “Chicago” earlier this year.
Leavitt will play teen idol Sandra Dee in the hit biographical musical about the life of singer Bobby Darin before his untimely death at age 37.
“I’m so excited,” Leavitt said, according to People.
Leavitt will star in “Just in Time” for a limited six-week engagement from Dec. 1, through Jan. 10, 2027, at New York City’s Circle in the Square Theatre. The lead in the show is currently played by Tony Award nominee Jeremy Jordan.
Earlier this year, Leavitt announced that she will not be returning to “The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives” after Season 5.
According to People, Leavitt’s journey to “Just in Time” began after she heard that Jonathan Groff, who originated the role of Darin, came to see her in ‘Chicago.” After that, she decided to go see “Just in Time.”
A few months later, she got an audition for the role of Dee. “We did it, we studied hard, and here we are,” she told People. “And I cannot wait to be a part of that show.”
Leavitt’s run in “Chicago” was originally meant to be for six weeks, but that got extended to three months. During that time, the show received its highest weekly box office gross in the production’s 29-year history.
“Just in Time” is one of Broadway’s recent hits, starting on Broadway in March 2025. The show was directed and developed by Tony Award winner Alex Timbers.
The music in “Just in Time” includes a variety of Darin’s hits, including “Beyond the Sea” and “Splish Splash.”
Alongside Jordan, the current cast of “Just in Time” includes Olivia Holt, Carrie St. Louis, Debbie Gravitte and Joe Barbara, per Playbill.
As Leavitt prepares for her return to the stage, her family is preparing to navigate a bicoastal life after she and her husband, Conner Leavitt, recently bought a house near their families in Utah. The couple has three children: Sedona, 6, Liam, 4, and Billy, 1.
“I do get bored easily, unfortunately, but it also motivates me,” Leavitt said, per People. “I just think it’s always been a part of me. I don’t really have plans on stopping, and I just want to keep going. … I don’t plan on leaving the Broadway world anytime soon.”
